The Lack Of School Spirit at Universal Academy (Coppell)
The lack of a gym is something that the administration have to work on. All the assembles are geared towards the little kids. We are a completely different demographic and it seems that none of the administration that runs the assemblies care to try to reach our demographic. Not to mention the grade school teachers some not most always have something to say especially during our passing periods. For instance two teens at the lockers cant have a pleasant conversation. There are 5 minutes in which we can use. There are cameras all around. So we are always supervised. If we are late to any classes we do receive a tardy.
So we do not need to be chastised by random teachers for no reason. We know that some our actions have repercussions. We should be able to choose. You cant expect us to act like adults and treat us like children especially when you know nothing about us. We could be having a bad day and our friend is trying to cheer us up.Also, the lovable sometimes sarcastic principle comments do not always remedy the situation. However there are many positive sides to Universal Academy (Coppell)which is one of the reasons I choose to go there but school spirit is not one of them.

Before reading the following blog please watch the video above.
In Georgia there have been many racial issues since the civil rights era. Recently I was informed about a Georgia school that gave 3rd graders slavery math problems. What are Slavery Math Problems you ask? Slavery math problems were created recently some examples included: If Fredrick received two beats a day how many would he receive in a week. This of course is referring to Fredrick Douglas. The problem with this attempted at being a cross-curriculum assignment is its insensitivity to the past and the way it was given to the students. The teacher who created this worksheet did not follow the proper protocol by getting this worksheet approved by the principle and the teacher later resigned. If I were a parent in this situation I would have been forced to have an uncomfortable conversation with my child so they he/she would understand the severity of the situation. What would you do in this situation?
